"We have very similar tastes in flower and lineages and whatnot. I think I first met him on a secret breeders forum called Kinetics, back when he was green Lantern Seeds in about 2011 or 2012. I watched his work and watched people grow his seeds over the years and there was always a big respect for him. We got to talking about older genetic and I decided to pick up some packs and support his cause. He sent me what was always been my GOAT, which was Lemon Larry.
I vigorously went through those seeds he sent me and ended up finding a really nice male and a super nice female and sent them back over to him. We agreed that we were going to throw down a collab. I asked him if he wanted to do it. He was cool enough to hop in on it. He's done a lot of this work, far more than I have. I was just lucky enough to find some amazing parental stock in those seeds."
"They're both made by Elite Genetics, Back In the early to mid 2000s, he took Larry OG and found a very nice Sour Diesel male, which came from Rez's work and crossed them together and make Sour Larry.
From there, he also found a Sour Larry male and crossed that back to Larry OG to make Lemon Larry. Lemon Larry is an early Larry backcross…it's actually where Skunkmaster FLex's Larry began. So, it's got deep roots, man. It was an absolute killer back in the day on the forums and he didn't make a lot of seeds of it.
Back then, it was 140 bucks for five fem seeds. He was spendy. He didn't have a large breeding area, so everything was really limited, and there was only X amount of seeds available, and the menu was always changing. It was crazy. But, yeah, he's left his mark."
"He had original Lemon Larry F1s, and he made F2s, and he's just been holding on to them, and hasn't really gone through any or whatnot. He just kept the original F1 parents around and made F2's.
It's time to let them out. It needs to be appreciated by all. I ran through 20. When he made the F3s, I looked through eight males and I think like 10 females.
There was really no need to look any further. I still hold that F2 female, and she's a production runner here. It's a staple. It's never going anywhere. It's one of the best keepers I've ever found. I'm super stoked about it."
"I think Lemon Larry is my Holy Grail. It's been a fucking 15-year journey to get to this, and to find them and to be able to to do this with each is just freaking amazing. It's a fucking honor.
Sour Larry is more of a sour diesel than Lemon Larry. There was a lot of diesel-esque plants in the F2 population, but this girl is a perfect 50% OG and 50% Sour Diesel. She colors up. She has a very full rack. It grows horizontally as well as vertically. I look for the same in the males as well. I wanted a bolstered, classic OG structure. It's just where the plant needed to be. Both the male and the female grow like an OG on steroids. They're very full, very vigorous plants that keep that lankiness. They have explosive growth.
The plant doubles in width and just keeps doubling and it creates a huge commercial-like cultivar. That's what I like best about it, is it'll double, if not triple in flower both outwards and upwards. Because I grow in trellis, I don't get to grow the numbers that I like to grow all the time.
I have to make the most out of a plant and spread it out to make a four and a half foot wide hedge. You get purple highlights…the more purple you have the more candy-ish terps you'll get versus keeping it a little warmer, and you'll end up with more of that sour diesel, grunginess…more of an undercarriage smell. So it's cool. You can really play with it and alter your end result. She's very expressive."
"We had great reviews from the testers as far as potency on the Banana OG x Lemon Larry, on the Legend OG, the SFV x Lemon Larry…I've gotten great rave reviews on the Tommy's Cookies x Lemon Larry, as well as the Chem 91 x Lemon Larry.
It's throwing a nice variety of old-school cultivars, stuff that some might have missed and not been able to get their hands on of legitimate, old-school Chemdog, Sours, OGs, some Bubba…West Coast Bubba Ogers, West Coast Dawg. Ink's work, the Mamba, the Pestilence. That's a cut I've been running for about two years now, and it's Raskal OG, Raskal's Fire OG Cut, crossed to Elite's Ultimate SFV Chem. That Ultimate SFV Chem was huge in my breeding program over the years. I was lucky enough to acquire that Fire OG cut and hit a bunch of OG years ago I've just been slowly playing with those seeds over the years, all the outcrosses."
"There'll be a few on phase two of the drop…Lemon Tree will be in there. Sour Larry will be in there. Lemon Cherry Gelato might make it. This Country Time Kush, which is Lemon Tree and the pre-98 Bubba, the Sour Larry. That's getting the Lemon Larry treatment. A Triangle Kush, the Pre-98 Bubba, the Sour Larry. That's getting Lemon Larry treatment. A triangle kush, the, maybe a few more. So it'll be an ongoing all year."
"Yes. That'll be later on this year. I'm just just starting those right now. That will definitely be in the phase two. It is definitely an in-cross because of those same parents being tight in there.
You're taking that same Larry cut and that same Rez Sour Diesel male and compounding it. They've been taken in absolutely different expressions, but their starting point is the one and the same."
"This has taken over two years now…From the time I got the seeds and talked to Ink about it to make this go down. We're just trying to take these heirloom cuts that should be shared and find the best male to put them in regular seed form.
You're not going to get pure OG genetics out there. I feel like with that male being so OGK dom and hitting it to these other OGKs, there should be some amazing baseline brood stock in this gear.
I think that's that's just really cool.
I know there's a ton of people that wanted Lemon Larry. It's been on everyone's bucket list. If you were in the forums in the early teens or mid-teens, early 2000s, it was one that was on everyone's bucket list. It was the big money stuff.
There's just not much Elite Genetics seeds left out there, period. I think it's a really cool opportunity for somebody that heard about these legendary strains and wanted to get in on it and see some good representations of the two."
"Man…my heart is with the Sour Larry. You know, this was a bucket list thing, a motivational thing. I've got some stuff on my plate…more Sour Larry seeds. I've been running through some backcross to F2s, and I've got a collection of plants now, and I'm going to run them for the next six months or so, and flower out the males and flower out the females and see where we're at.
I have a female that is probably my first S1 project candidate. I feel like I have the absolute Sour Larry GOAT. So that was really cool after taking four years off on hunting sour Larry seeds. To get back into them and have it be just like opening up the book to your bookmark. There were no huge surprises. It was exactly what I expected to see. It was like, Okay, this is exactly what I wanted. Everything just is taking its course. Sour Larry, definitely in the future. But just working this Lemon Larry, and
I just want to go through as many seeds as I can, basically, of all the progeny. If you notice what I grow for myself, my own medicine, it's all exactly what I breed with, and those will be My Lemon Larry. Those are lines that feed me and their cuts that I keep are here because of that. They've proven themselves. They're vetted, and they're worth holding on to with my life. That's the breeding material here. That's the best foot I can put forward on it. I think everybody would love them as much as I do."
